Set a 500 KB output target for uploads that need a smaller image file. The existing compressor searches supported output quality settings and reports when it cannot reach the requested size.
A 500 KB file can suit larger web images and uploads where visible detail matters. Check the receiving site's actual limit and required pixel dimensions; file size alone does not determine whether an image will look sharp.
The compressor searches lossy quality settings for the selected JPEG or WebP format. If the source is large or detailed, the requested size may not be achievable at acceptable quality. Reduce pixel dimensions first, then compare the preview before downloading.
JPEG and WebP are available in this target-size workflow. Lossy compression can soften detail or create artifacts, especially in text, fine edges, and gradients. Keep an original copy and inspect the preview at the size where it will be used.
A 500 KB ceiling leaves more room for detail. Compare the preview at its intended display size and avoid enlarging a small source.
