When Mekh Tools is a good fit
Choose Mekh Tools for simple local JWT inspection.
jwt.io comparison
Mekh Tools’ JWT Decoder is for inspecting a token’s decoded header and payload. It does not verify signatures or generate JWTs. jwt.io currently presents a debugger that can decode, validate, and verify tokens.
Try the relevant Mekh Tools workflow:
| Workflow | Mekh Tools | jwt.io |
|---|---|---|
| Decode and inspect | Mekh Tools locally decodes JWT header and payload for inspection. | jwt.io’s debugger describes decoding, validation, and optional signature verification. |
| Verification and signing | Mekh Tools does not verify a signature, issue a token, or prove that claims are trustworthy. | jwt.io includes an optional signature-verification workflow; use the current debugger documentation for its supported algorithms and inputs. |
| Security boundary | Decoded JWT claims are untrusted until verified by the application and its expected issuer/audience rules. | A successful signature check alone does not replace application-specific authorization and claim validation. |
